My name is Raedel Ortiz.

Independent supervisor and creative for costume departments.

My forte is live TV and reality shows - where the pace is extremely fast and anything can change at any given minute… even right before show time! It is my job to be ready for anything at any given moment by intense preparation and proper staffing.

Born in Manila, Philippines - now LA based.

I started working in the industry as an assistant to an Emmy award winner costume designer for several years.  Over time, I became more fascinated with the processes, systems and people that make the creative vision a reality.

Great creative & execution

What I do is a mix of materials/vendor sourcing and coordination, costume production, budget and logistics, scheduling and coordination, and team management.  I coordinate logistics for the costume department; for shoots in studios and on location - assembling the right people, facilities and supplies to make the costume designer’s vision a reality; whilst balancing this with producers’ budget and expectations.

Consulting engagements, sourcing & outsourcing

Growing up, my family owned a clothing retail business sold in malls and my uncle is one of the renowned fashion designers in the Philippines. I grew up playing in my uncle's atelier and our family's factory. I was around textile, cutters, embroiderers, sewers, craftspeople, etc. growing up. I was also exposed to import/export as our family business also branched out to importing clothing from China.

I have learned everything in the retail/fashion space - from conception to production to proper sales channels/marketing - growing up the way I did.

Up to this day, it has been my advocacy to help the artisans, craftspeople and the fashion industry in the Philippines. It is my passion to bring more US enterprises to the Philippines and show Filipino talent & craftsmanship to the world.

Team leadership & management

Problem solver. I love my job! I promote a Can-Do mentality in my team. “There are no problems, only situations.”

Team builder. I also love working with people who are collaborative and I like empowering the team to grow within their roles.

Highly organized. I break down projects in manageable goals and reasonable timeline.

Communication. The pillar of a well oiled machine - clear expectations, deadlines and responsibilities.

I fill my life with projects that I am passionate about and with good people.

I love to read, travel and take pictures. I am currently learning e-commerce, photography, website development and online marketing so I can start my own blog! In between projects, I make it a point to go somewhere I have not been to yet. I like to roam around and find inspiration in art, design and architecture when I travel.

I am also very entrepreneurial. I have small businesses in the Philippines and I go home every year to continuously grow them.
